Instant Udon

Rain Here.
Today I went home sick from school.
In my opinion the best thing to do on a sick day is lay on the couch and eat a hot bowl of udon.
For those of you who don't know what Udon is, heres a quick explanation of what it is and how to make it from the instant packages you can buy at your asian supermarket:

Udon is a thick, wheat noodle popular in Japan. It is most commonly served in a clear broth made from dashi (kombu seaweed soup stock), shoyu (soy sauce) and mirin (sweet rice wine used mainly in cooking).

Ingredients:

-1 package frozen Udon Noodles with flavor packet
- 2 cups boiled water
- Any Toppings you want (:

Step One:
Get your udon noodles.

Step Two:
Bring two cups of water to a boil.

Step Three:
After the water comes to a boil, add your Udon noodles. After noodles are cooked transfer them to a bowl.

Step Four:
Now add the flavor packet and whatever ingredients you want. (: I added some seeweed, naruto, and an atsuage bag.

Enjoy.

Cream Puffs

Hey you guys! Its Ame!
Like Rain I had no school today so I'm going to show you how to make cream puffs. Although the recipe looks long, it is worth the making
p(^-^)q

The things you will need:

Dough
-1/2 cup of water
-1/2 stick of butter
-Pinch salt
-1/2 cup of all purpose flour
-2 eggs
-pinch ground cinnamon

Cream:
-2 Tbsp of Flour
-1/4 cup + 2 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
-1 cups of milk
-3 egg yolks
-1/2 tsp vanilla extract
-1 Tbsp of butter

Step 1:
Preheat your oven to 425 F (218 C). Then in a sauce pan combine the water, butter, and salt. Bring it to a boil and then reduce the heat. Add the flour and stir vigorously with a wooden spoon. Cook the mixture until it has formed a ball and is pulled away from the pan.

Step 2:
Transfer it to a mixing bowl and let it cool for 3-4 minutes. Either using an electric mixer or your hands, beat in the eggs one at a time until it is fully incorporated into the mix. Then add the cinnamon and mix again.

Step 3:
Make little 1 inch balls from the dough and put it on a cookie sheet 1 inch apart from each other. Then bake them in the oven for 20-25 minutes. *Make sure to rotate them halfway through the cooking process!! Also make sure that your oven isn't on convection or else you might have little cream puffs flying around in your oven.*

Step 4:
While the cream puff dough is baking, mix the flour, sugar, egg yolks, and 1/4 cup of milk until completely smooth.

Step 5:
Heat the rest of the milk and vanilla extract together until it comes to a boil. Be careful not to burn the milk. Once it is at a boil, take it off the heat and slowly incorporate it into the egg mixture.

Step 6:
Once the milk is in the egg mixture, pour it back into the sauce pan and whisk it some more. Whisk until the custard thickens. When it becomes lumpy, keep mixing the mixture.

Step 7:
Boil the custard for 1 minute stirring constantly then remove it from the heat and put it into a clean mixing bowl. Then fold in the butter. Chill the mixture until it is ready to go inside of the cream puff dough.

Step 8 :
Take the cream puff dough out and cool them on a rack. Once cool fill them with the cream. Then if you want to, you can dust them with powder sugar. Happy Cooking!

Cake in a Mug

Rain here.
Today was a snow day so instead of going to school I stayed home cuddled up in my blankets and watched TV.
The perfect snack for days like this is Chocolate Cake.
Well in my opinion chocolate cake is the perfect snack for any occasion, but making it from scratch can be tedious.
Luckily for us we can make chocolate cake in less that 5 minutes!

Things You Will Need:
- A Coffee Mug
-2 Tbsp Cake Flour
-2 Tbsp Sugar (3 if you have an extra sweet tooth like me)
-1 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
-1 Egg
-1 Tbsp Milk
-1 Tbsp Oil
- As many chocolate chips as your heart desires (I use 2 Tbsp)
(Optional: Powdered Sugar for topping)

Step One:
Mix all of the dry ingredients together in the mug.

Step Two:
Add the egg to the dry ingredients. Whisk it in with a spoon or fork.

Step Three:
Stir in the Milk and Oil.
Step Four:
Drop in the Chocolate Chips.

Step 5:
Place the Mug in the Microwave and cook for 2 minutes.
(Don't worry if the cake rises above the top of the mug, This is Normal)

Step Six:
Take the mug out of the microwave and let it cool for about a minute. Top with Powdered Sugar and Enjoy.
